R.S.D. College, Firozpur City (Punjab)- a premiere Post graduation co-educational institute- boasts of a grand history and excellent traditions. The college, one of the oldest educational institutions in the state, was started in 1921 by Late Rai Sahib Lala Gowardhan Dass to perpetuate the memory of Late L.Ram Sukh Das, a great philanthropist of this area.

The College, passed its Platinum Jubilee, has blossomed into one of the largest centers of higher education in the entire North-Western part of the country. The college is governed by Ram Sukh Das College Trust & Management Society. The College is registered with UGC for 12B and 2F schemes. Ram Sukh Das College is one of the oldest institutions of Punjab for higher education. This institution, which had a very humble beginning as a Intermediate College in Arts subjects with 15 students in 1921, has developed in the course of time to a Post Graduate Degree College having more than Two Thousand students on its rolls and imparting instructions up to B.A./ B.Sc. standard in Medical, Non-Medical, Arts, Commerce subjects, M.Sc.(IT), PGDCSA and BCA. On May 29,1921 the opening ceremony of the college was performed by L. Harkishan Lal. Bar-At-Law.

In January 1922, the Ram Sukh Das College Trust deed was executed and got duly registered. The college got affiliation for B.A. classes in 1931-32. In 1931, the Principal´s office, cycle shed etc were constructed and with the humble beginning the college came to occupy a position of considerable importance in these parts and hundreds of students passed out of its portals after having been fully equipped with knowledge and proficiency in arts subjects up to Degree standard. In 1934-35, the college got affiliation for B.Sc.(Medical, Non Medical) classes and Biological labs and Biological Museum were added. The college has experienced great vicissitudes of fortune; passed through various ordeals but owing to the progressive vision and foresight of its management, it emerged stronger and brighter after every trial and test.

In 1956-57 more rooms and library was constructed to meet the growing needs of the students. A recreation hall cum auditorium measuring 90´x 30´ and a new Science block was constructed to meet the increasing number of the students. In 1966, a UGC grant of Rs.10,000 was received to establish a Text book Library. Many other changes were made in the college campus including renovation and construction of students´ center, servant houses etc. The college is housed in a very big campus comprising 35 spacious class rooms, two big halls, an auditorium, a well-equipped library, 13 laboratories, an administrative block, well maintained lawns and a play ground.
